When should I have a Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage is ideally suited to everyone who:
- Is experiencing chronic muscle pain or tension, such as ongoing tightness in areas like your neck, shoulders, lower back, or legs. This is common in people with poor posture, repetitive strain, or past injuries.
- Is recovering from an Injury, particularly soft tissue injuries like muscle strains, tendinitis or Whiplash (Note: You should wait until the acute phase (swelling/inflammation) has passed.)
- Is experiencing limited range of motion, such as stiffness or "tight" muscles restricting movement.
- Under high stress (Physical or Emotional). Chronic stress often leads to muscle tightness, especially in the shoulders, neck, and back. Deep tissue work can release that physical tension
- After intense physical activity - Not immediately after (you should wait 24–48 hours), but deep tissue massage is helpful for muscle recovery, reducing soreness, preventing injuries in athletes or gym-goers
- Is preparing for or recovering from a sports event
- Pre-event: Loosen tight muscles, improve mobility.
- Post-event: Aid recovery, reduce lactic acid buildup, and prevent stiffness.
- Sit or stands for long hours - Ideal for office workers, drivers, healthcare workers, or retail staff who often develop postural imbalances and/or lower back pain
How often should I have a Deep Tissue Massage?
For chronic pain or injury rehab: 1x per week or every other week
For stress relief/maintenance: Every 2–4 weeks
For athletic performance: Weekly during training or post-competition
